    I was in the Air Force working on a plane when a buddy came by and told me. I pretty much figured Magic had a death sentence and he'd be gone in a year or two. I wasn't a Lakers fan, but Magic was a likeable fellow and I was pretty upset about it.

    Working in a restaurant bussing tables, all the waitresses were looking up at the TV watching it and I remember how shocked we all were and thinking it was a death sentence for him due to the little info we knew about the disease.
