Does ebay member kylesportscards post on the CU forums

Wondering if any of you are kylesportscards from Ebay.

If so please let me know. No you are not in trouble. I have a few questions.

Thanks

Shawn

He's Kyle Boetel out of Colorado. I don't believe he posts here. He's a dealer that used to set up at the major shows, focusing mostly on high grade raw vintage.

Thanks for the info. He has some cards held hostage that I could use.

If you talk to him, ask him if he still wants $1200 for his 61 Joe Gibbon PSA 8.

Think he had a 61 Jim Coates for $1000 for a very, very, very, very, very, long time.

I wonder if he blows the dust off these things before we sells them...lol!

actually Kyle is a nice guy, just priced most of his items sky high!

Totally agree. Have talked to him at shows - he's just too darn high for me. He always has good stuff - I'll have to say. He's friendly and helpful IMO.

From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Kyle's a nice guy to talk to and I miss him at shows. I used to buy from him until his prices for raw kept getting higher and the values for graded kept getting lower. It got to the point where I could buy a 9 of a particular card for less than a raw one from his inventory that could grade anywhere from a 7 to a 9. Judging by the prices some sellers are getting for high grade raw cards on eBay to this day, I wouldn't doubt he could still get his asking price for his raw inventory.

Possibly, but I do not ask Ebay sellers to lower the price for me. Good way to end up on his bbl. And I need a bunch from him.

But I have talked with CU members about working out deals.

I guess for me it is just different doing deals here.

Hmm. I've actually found that as long as you're not low-balling the seller, many are open to negotiating down from a fixed "buy it now" price.

If you get BBL'ed for making an offer, then you probably don't want to do business with that seller in the first place.

He's sold 572 items in the last 15 days, so I wouldn't call him extinct. And speaking of high grade raw cards on ebay (per gemmint's comments), did you see this Jim Hegan? Look at the rest of this seller's completed items, especially the 55's.

I've got a lot of HSO's on Kyle but by & large I give him props for executing his strategy. He told me in 2007 he was eliminating almost all shows & going to EBay, & in a difficult economic & EBay climate he's done well. Good for him.

Seller Battlefield?!?! You go right ahead. He is following the same strategy of Great Lakes and others before him. Crackout nice looking, low grade cards with minute surface wrinkles, etc. Take far away scans. Use flowing descriptions and watch the money roll in!

I completely agree about Battlefield, as well as his other user names. I complained about a '56 clemente that he said was "the best he ever had the pleasure of owning". It had 3 creases and came back from PSA as "questionable card stock". At the time, he was selling under the name Candiman. He noted that the card couldn't have creases b/c he cracked it out of a PSA 5 holder and then blocked me. he also sells under Uncle_Bills_Treasures. Same approach each time. Takes a picture from far enough away that the card still looks great, but not close enough to see obvious flaws that a scan would show. Also always uses descriptive terms vs. NM, NM-MT, etc. Also, takes forever to ship. I guess that's enough venting out of me. Hope the info helps any of the newer board members.

Sounds like he ran out of his high end stuff and is now doing the crack and flip trick on raw dogs.

I guess selling real NM/MT and Mint cards at 2 TO 3x their real value wasn't proving lucrative enough so he switched to cracking 5s and 6s out and selling as NM to NM/MT. Pretty much the same thing in my book and confirms what I have always thought of him.
