There is another thread on the same page with the entire story linked.

A buddy of mine (and former collector, don't know if he still is) was family friends with Kevin Mawae, former LSU and Titans/Jets center...

He relayed a story about being at Mawae's house back in 2000-01, and the topic of trading cards came up. He told Mawae that he had a card that had a little chunk of Mawae's Pro Bowl jersey. He said Mawae gave him a funny look and said "which Pro Bowl jersey?", then took him to the next room, pointed to his framed Pro Bowl jersey on the wall and said "THAT Pro Bowl jersey???"

The shop owner where I purchased cards in the late 90s also pulled one of the infamous Pacific Manny Ramirez "corked-bat" cards that ultimately cost Pacific their MLB license.

I've never really put a lot of faith in the authenticity of "game-used" cards, and probably haven't spent more than a couple of dollars on any given one.

Oddly enough, the Manny Ramirez corked bats were more likely IMO to be really his game-used bats. Someone in the business of selling fake game-used memorabilia is highly unlikely to take the time and trouble to hollow out a bat, cork the inside, and replug it before selling it, especially as they couldn't advertise that it was corked to get more money.

BTW, EA, if you read the backs of many of those cards carefully, the jersey may have been worn in an official Pro Bowl event, rather than the game itself - such as for media day.
