Although they give prices in PCGS and NGC 66, I'm wondering why it wasn't already slabbed if it's a super gem. Wouldn't it be worth $30 or so to get it slabbed and make an additional $1000-1200? Just asking...

This was a floor session, so I have good reason to believe the lots were examined by experienced collectors. That doesn't necessarily mean the auction house knows how to grade a deeply toned coin. Even if the coin is merely a 63, the hammer price was more than reasonable for the eye appeal IMHO.
