October CC Special #1 Poppage - Received 10/27, Popped 10/31 - 3 DAYS!!!

WOW! 3 day turn-around on this submission (mostly from 1970 rack pack rips plus a few singles
I had wanted to put in too).

A little disappointing on the grades (considering most of these came from rack packs), but we'll see what
comes back on the "heavy hitter" singles before the final judgment is rendered.

    << <i>Ouch! Near mint galore!!!

What was your average pull per rack for submission? >>

    Breaks out as follows:

    Series 1 rack:

All cards submitted less miscuts: Average Grade = 7.21875
All non-qualified cards submitted less miscuts: Average Grade = 7.068966

    Series 5 rack:

All cards submitted less miscuts: Average Grade = 7.66129
All non-qualified cards submitted less miscuts: Average Grade = 7.362089

Also funny, the Brooks Robinson AS had been twice submitted previously and had come back Min Size Req, but this
time is gets a PSA 7.

My guess is that the real issue was centering, but that isn't going to explain a few of these. For example, the Tommie
Agee was one of the "lesser" centered cards but they saw fit to give it an 8. Meanwhile the Deron Johnson which I thought
to be better centered than the Agee got a 7.

Maybe some crack outs to do here.

Still, 3-day turnaround on a CC special submission was awesome.

<< <i>Sorry, meant to say how many cards, on average, did you pull per rack to submit?

If a card looks centered and is getting a low grade it's either a registration issue, surface issue or corners/edges.

I ask how many cards per rack you subbed as that's usually a good indicator of how "loose" or "tight" you're being. Of course there is plenty of variance to it all, but in general, I would think 1-2 cards per rack is the max you should be sending in if you're going for mint cards. >>

I was aiming for 8s or better for commons and 7s or better for stars. Anything that was 70/30 or better centered on the front
based on digitized image capture and measurement was sent for commons. Stars were sent if they were 75/25 or better.
Corners and edges were then used to further weed out. In the end, about 50% of each rack went in. Each rack contained 54 cards.

A few that are listed at 8 really looked better to me, but until they arrive (and until I get home) I wont be able to scan them for
    others to offer their opinions.

My 53 card sub popped yesterday also. It was pretty similar results as seen above and they also started with serial #194.

That sounds pretty logical. My result from 1970 cellos are similar - I think roughly 5-6 per cello is the max that I've successfully subbed and gotten 8's or better.
