Is this a proof Jefferson?

I've had this coin for years, just sitting around in the collection. I looked at it again today and was wondering, if this might in fact be a proof 1939 Jefferson. It has a crazy amount of die polish lines, but is incredibly well struck and obviously super lustrous. What's the marker for a proof vs. ms Jefferson? Thanks for the input.

I believe mirrors would help your argument. This is a simple business strike. You are looking for mirrors, not "lustrous" they way you have here, sharp wire rims, very well struck, squared off design edges (the "sharpness" of a Proof)...nickel is the hardest metal used for coin I believe, or was at the time, so that can look a little different then their War nickel brothers whose mirrors tend to be more watery. There are also a couple of types of 1938/39 reverse as far as your business strike at this time, and a few varieties for 1939 Proofs too I think re some lettering font on the Obv. if memory serves. Others will have better information.
Best wishes,
Eric
