I mostly collect U.S. coins but every now and then I pick up some non-U.S. coins that interest me. I was at a local coin shop's bid board last week and saw this coin and thought it looked neat. Thought it looked to be in nice condition for a nearly 300 year old coin and also thought having "Hamburger" written on a coin was fun It's a very thin coin and has a reeded edge.
Bidding started at $1 on the coin and I had to compete with another guy who really wanted it, but luckily I was the last one to get a bid in before bidding was halted and I got it for $6. Seemed like a good deal and I figured there wasn't too much down side risk. I don't know too much about it but I think I found it in a really old Krause guide I have KM #161? Seems like they value it for a lot more than $6, but then again, it's an old guide so I don't know.
