Who knew at the time the Cardinals would be getting a guy as clutch in the post-season as Edmonds often was? It's funny how things work out sometimes.

    So here's a question about Jim Edmonds: Is he a Hall of Famer? My first inclination is no, but then I compare him to a guy like Jim Rice. Edmonds was a similar power hitter to Rice (admittedly, he played in a more run friendly environment, but he also didn't play in Fenway Park). His batting average is a bit lower, but his OPS+ is much higher. The difference is that Edmonds was known as a great guy and a great team player that was one of the best defensive outfielders of his time. Is that enough?

    I never really thought of Edmonds as a hall of famer. His numbers do compare to Rice and you can make a good argument for him, but my gut feeling is that he doesn't get in. Partly because rightly or wrongly his power numbers came at a time when guys were jacking the ball out all the time. I don't think he "stood out" enough to the national media.
