When the 1st Spouse gold first came out, people were going crazy trying to buy them and the Mint site was way slow.
Likewise for the initial 5 oz ATBs.
Now the 1st Spouse coins go begging on the Mint site and the ATBs are taking a couple of months to sell out.
This particular set does seem to have set some type of record though.

Lot more collectors of the ASEs than the gold spouses and ATBs.

    Seconded.
  • So do you think this one will also be as the 1st Spouse gold and the ATB.

The internet age has drawn a lot of speculators to the coin market. The demand for the initial issue of the first Gold Spouse was driven by speculators who hoped for profit potential with the new series. It didn't pan out, the only thing that saved them was a rising gold price. The 25th ASE set has drawn large interest from the same speculators as is shown by the fast price escalation on ebay. Speculators are paying $500-600 for the set right out of the gate with hopes of higher sell prices later. The price will continue to build as long as the speculators are willing to continue paying more. Just as with real estate, speculators will drive this set's price up until it pops and comes back down to earth. Initially many aftermarket sales will be speculators selling to speculators.

Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
