Just got it am am very happy. Looks like it had a very old cleaning as I thought it might. Also looks like an old little round sticker left what looks like the moon in the clouds. Here are some pics I took with an Iphone 4s. I wanted to see how good they could look from the phone.
Just won this one. I don't have many medals but this one really grabbed me. what do you think of it?
Thanks,
Richard

At your attention a beautiful early (1860-1879) re-strike of the 1763 dated medal, which commemorates the erection of an equestrian statue of Louis XV on the Place de la Concorde in 1763. It is thought to represent homage from the Six Corps of Paris merchants delivering prisoners and may be related to the Treaty of Paris, signed in 1763 by France, Britain and Spain, ending the Seven Years' War.

Thats an excellent point , it made me wonder if anything else was interesting and the sailboats caught my attention , they seem to be making full use of a breeze in full sail going one way while the flags and banners of the main ship and fortress are in a stong breeze the opposite direction.
I like the medal a lot though , the detail is outstanding.

That's interesting, too. If I'm gonna have adhesive residue become part of a coin's toning, I can think of no better way to have it than something like that, where it actually enhances the design in a bizarre sort of way.
Are you sure that's what caused it? I looked at this thread before, overlooked your line about the sticker (since my eyes went straight for the picture), and wondered what in the heck it was. It's too cool that it worked out that way. Artistic damage. You gotta love it.
(Seriously, though, I do love it- sticker moon and all.)
