How do you store your "Rattlers"?

I have seen threads here in the past about creative ways to safely and securely store the first generation pcgs slabs.

The boxes for the rattlers are expensive if you can even find one. I think I would pay a more than fair price for a couple if they could even be located.

I didn't worry so much about the few slabs I owned but have accumulated several more recently.

Need some ideas folks and any help would be appreciated.

    I don't buy 'em, so I don't store 'em.

My less expensive rattlers I store in a single Intercept Shield box. The more expensive coins (coins I don't want to change in the holders) I store in the double-protection Intercept Shield boxes (each coin goes in a small slab-sized box with Intercept Shield, and then ten of those go in a bigger box lined with Intercept Shield).

Same here. The less expensive ones are in a double row Intercept box. I can fit 40+ in one box. The pricey ones get the double Intercept boxes.

I do this for all slabbed coins, not just rattlers.

To keep them tight in a pcgs box I use paperboard, like from a FedEx envelope cut to sizeand length so that I can fold it in half making a sort of pocket that the slab to sit down in. It'll fit in the slot preventing the coin from moving around.

I put them in the PCGS box between two normal slabs - you can also put a few rubber bands around the slab and that will make it wide
enough to just catch on the tabs in the pcgs box.

etexmike, thedouble protection intercept shield boxes mentioned by Kove are a very good option for storing rattlers. I use these boxes for some of my better coins in rattler holders. The black PCGS pasteboard boxes designed to hold rattlers can be found, but are often expensive and they are pretty fragile.

Looks like the Intercept Shield box and holders is the big winner.

I was hoping that someone had figured out an easy way to retro fit a pcgs box.

As many of the old rattler slabs still floating around you would think there would be a market for a slab box (or the outer rings like on the 2nd gen holder) to fit the darn things. image

Thanks guys and a special thanks to BigMoose for the pm.
