Picked up a pretty nice half, but have been unable to find comparable examples to figure out a good grade.
The first 1855-S Half is mine.
The other images are pulled from heritage in the date/grade range for comparison.
I'm not sure if it has enough meat to hit VF, but I don't think a 15 is out of question. What do you think?
Thanks!

That said though, I'm thinking I'm too tough, and need to re-evaluate my extensive group of seated halves!
This coin will eventually makes it's way to our host. But for now, I will enjoy it nice and raw.
I'm torn between F-15+ and VF-20.
A VERY nice coin!
(Here is my example, with issues: 1855-S Half)
I believe my example is a "technical" VF-30, but it has issues.
Little did I know that I would see this coin again (up for auction at Heritage) and independently conclude (for a 2nd time) that I really liked it! And that I would win an auction to acquire it!
I believe the "correct" grade should be F-15+ (Or F-15 with a green beanie). So, IMHO, it's still slightly undergraded.
As for eye appeal, I have yet to see a better example below VF-20. Has anyone else?
