Red Sox announce Lackey to have elbow surgery

He will miss all of 2012 season.

They also have insurance on him so that relieves them of some of his payroll and extends his contract a year if the
Red Sox want it at major league minimum. Maybe he will be better than he is now.

Physicaly I hope he recovers.

I still think that the compensation for the Cubs should have been to take Lackey to Chicago. ERA over 6 with the Red Sox. I'm sure he'd have a much lower ERA pitching at Wrigley Field with the wind blowing out...

I hear he's having his surgery out in Cali. Probably knows there would be a good chance of some type of accident if he had his surgery in the Boston area...LOL!
