1978 O Pee Chee Baseball

I have always wanted to venture into O Pee Chee baseball cards and just got my first set (1978 Baseball) for $53.

The cards are not here yet, but by looking at the scans are probably NMMT, with quite a few OC cards.

My three part questions is:

1. Did I overpay for this set?
2. Does this set have more potential than the regular Topps set to appreciate in the future?
3. As a general question, Is it ok to assume that the amount of O Pee Chee cards printed are less than the Topps counterpart?

Just looking to gather some information on O Pee Chee cards. I really like them because of the set size.

3. Yes, maybe 10% of the Topps set.
