"Rocky Mountain Collection" on Teletrade just finished

The group had a lot of coins that fit my interest, so I was following it fairly intently.

On the whole, the coins went pretty cheap. I was mostly paying attention to the seated stuff, and there were many super-tough dates that went for around 2/3 of what the same coins would bring on Heritage... not to mention that some of the coins have significant upgrade potential.

Will, Bust stuff went strong...at least full Heritage prices for the nicer ones I was looking at.

I had my eye on a couple Better-Date Seated coins, but quickly lost interest since it isn't where I'm putting my money these days.

Nevertheless, I was only interested in 2-3 coins and they went beyond my limits. It appeared well hyped from my end, but
I guess seated stuff went cheap for you.

...what did you pick up? image

Edited to add...I will agree that many (especially the low MS type) appeard 1-2 grades better than their current old-ANACS Grades!

If it says pending, does that mean I won the lot? Lol. I set a bid up earlier on a nice DMPL Morgan and forgot to watch it.

Definitely doesn't mean that... you need to go to my account and check to see if you can pay for it... if you can, then you won image

Yeah, that was a pretty stupid question. image I'm not a huge Teletrade buyer, honestly.

Edited to add: Just checked, and it says I didn't win any. Oh well. image

I never liked how Teletrade deals with the end of the auction... it'll show you as winning at the last minute, then everything disappears and becomes "pending." Then, around 5-10 minutes later, you can see if you can pay for your winnings. Right now, 35 minutes after the auction ended, the lot I won still shows as "pending" even though I paid for it around 20 minutes ago. Glad to know that I won it, but I'm sure some of the other bidders on the coin are still trying to figure out if they won that one!!!

    here's a few of them...

62-S 25c... $450 + juice, PCGS generally calls ones that look like this VF
59-S 25c... $775 + juice, great deal as is, but has PCGS VF potential
59-S 10c... $825 + juice, mushy but has straight-grade potential... I still believe it to be a good deal as is

I think your best bet for an upgrade is the 1859-S Quarter, I'm not positive on the other two!

Still some great looking, tough S-mint coins!!!

In all my years of being dissatisfied with Teletrade, "pending" has meant it didn't meet reserve.
    When in doubt, don't.

  • I watched a couple but didn't like the direction they were headed and stopped
keeping up. As for the pending I never see that, I wait til 11pm and go to my
account and if I have a notice to pay an invoice well okey dokey and if not no biggie.
Don't really matter to me what the coin sells for cause it ain't mine.

I agree with both the upgrade possibilities. The 1862-S is very nice, and a dead-ringer at VF20 in my book. The 1859-S worries me a bit, the obverse looks funky from the pics. I really like the reverse, but I would like to see it in hand. That said, I do think it has upgrade potential.

I like the 2 quarters, but don't know about the 59-S making it into a PCGS graded holder.
