Yikes....it is thick and heavy. 1792. Bronze. I do not have my scale at home for a proper weight.
The 'pockmarks' are deep...and yes ugly!
French 2 sols.
I wonder how it got the pockmarks?

That is a french coin. I do not remember the denomination though. Mine looked exactly like yours sans holes. -Dan

Yup, looks like a bronze French 2 Sols. Pocks look like corrosion eating into the bronze.

My guess is heavy verdigris that eventually was removed or "fell out" and left the pitting behind.
