I'm going tomorrow with my 13 year old son...I believe a photo with Rick Snow may be in order!
That just made my day Rick...(man that officially makes me a coin geek doesn't it?)

I was picked up at the airport by Mitch (coinhusker) who is also the president of both the Omaha Coin Club and the Nebraska Numismatic Association. He drives a Smart car which he won in a local drawing. It gets as many second-looks as a Lamborgini would. We stopped by the Missouri River to survey the damage done by the summer floods which are just now fully receded. There is evidence of the flood everywhere.
We had a wonderful dinner at Mitch's house. His wife, Kim and son, Samuel (Notlogical) made Beef bourguignon from Julia Child's cookbook. It was awesome!
The show started today and it has been fairly busy. There are 40 dealers.
I went to that show last year and this year looks busier than last year.

Alright Rick! Nice pics. I like pics like these, make me wish I could be there. Looking forward to a report.
Here's a picture of my son Dylan and me with ever cordial Rick Snow.
I used to live in OH, part of the flyover country, as some would say. Now I live in FL, and there are plenty of folks
who badmouth that state as well. Home is where you make it.
<< <i>Even Rick called Nebraska "flyover country". How come nobody gives him heat for using that term?
. >>
Because it is to expansive to drive through?
<< <i>So I arrived in Omaha yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find the same weather that I left in Tucson - sunny and 70 degrees! Being here in fly-over country is always a pleasure. Everyone is so friendly. Here is a "meteor" we saw at sunset. (It is actually one of those fly-overs).

Looked like it was a good show. Great report, Rick.
So Mitch drives a Smart car - as a fan of small-sized cars (compact, sub-compact, mini, and micro), I envy him. Of all the cars that I would like to test-drive, the Smart car is on the top of the list. Mind you, I own a 2003 VW New Beetle after owning a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan for over 8 years.

It's been a good show weekend so far. After I picked Rick up at the airport I drove him over to his hotel to get settled in before coming over to our place for dinner. We stopped by our neighborhood grocery store on the way home and picked up a six pack of Dos Equis. It was through that store and 7-UP that my wife won our smart car. When we walked in the store one the employee's said, "Did you drive the 'Grand Prize' today?" My wife made Julia Child's Beof Bourguignon for dinner. The entire family gathered around the table to enjoy this treat of having Rick visit us in Omaha.
He joined us for our monthly meeting of the Omaha Coin Club as we took the opportunity to set up the room for the show the following day.
Attendance for the show was good considering it was raining and a game day for Nebraska with the game on TV. My kids (notlogical on the left) helped with the club table. Our raffle drawing collected over $300 the first day so we were happy with that.
Immediately after the show, we had the Nebraska Numismatic Association annual meeting at our dinner location, Venice Inn in Omaha which is a classic Italian Omaha steak house. Again, Rick was there and offered invaluable insight and ideas for helping our struggling state organization find itself in the 21st century. It was nice having someone give us ideas from an "outside" perspective.
The dinner itself was well attended. I had received reservations for 19 but ended up with 30 in attendance.
Our speaker for the night was Carrie Wieners, curator of the Durham Museum in Omaha. Her enthusiasm for her charge of caring for the Byron Reed collection and her love for history was evident throughout her presentation on the "Books, manuscripts and documents of the Reed Collection".
At the close of the evening I had the opportunity to recognize Carrie for her willingness to open up this marvelous collection again to the numismatic community by offering vault tours, etc. by giving her the NNA Numismatic Ambassador Award.
Today is day 2 of the show. We're looking forward to having another good day.
<< <i>Considering the spacious confines of those Smart cars did Rick or did his luggage ride on the hood of the car? >>
Actually it is much roomier that it looks.
I used to be famous now I just collect coins.

your club and the show a success
The dinner/meeting was enjoyable. We had Carrie Weiners from the Durham Museum give a great talk about Byron Reed.
Reed was an abolitionist who escaped the Kansas wars in the early 1850's to settle in Omaha. He made his fortune running the Land Office when the frontier beyond the Missouri River opened up to settlers.
A collector stopped by with a Gobrecht dollar cut-out. He also had a 1856 Flying Eagle with a hole in it.
The show is well attended today. Since it is a Saturday/Sunday show, Sunday is usually the best day of the show.
<< <i>Well, the show's over and the winner of the Grand Prize of the raffle was......drum roll..........Rick Snow! A tenth ounce gold proof eagle. Goes to show ya, that karma thing really works. >>

I did see notlogical at the show, and said hi to him, but I'm not sure if he remembered me from when I'd introduced myself to him at last year's show.
