Question Re SAE 25th Anniv. Set

Does the Mint always reveal the mintage specifics prior to the sale? For example, do they always state "Minted to Demand" or "100,000 maximum" in the pre sales literature?

I only ask because I assume that will greatly impact the initial sales frenzy.

And now that we're within a week of the start of sales, isn't it also unusal to still not know the price?

Neither have I...except that there was an earlier discussion that if this program was authorized under the usual SAE enabling legislation...then it might be minted to demand.

But I think the mint director may have verbally said 100,000 sets during the original announcement.

Would the Mint put a limit on the set and then "Mint to demand"?

Right...but I think other items minted to demand also had an initial order limit placed on them...such as the special deep struck double eagle from a few years back. I think that was also initially order limited although it was ultimately minted to demand.
