Negs can always be retracted. Right? Perhaps this is a strategy on the buyers part to get the seller's attention and to get the seller to follow through with the transaction.

Some overly sensitive Ebay sellers on here. I have left Negs for far less. If I have a Neg Transaction I am going to leave a neg and if someone backs out of the deal then they get a neg. and if they didn't want that then maybe they should have completed it or made amends other ways. I am 100% on Bayard1908 and couldn't care less about the seller

Sellers who renege on sales generally deserve a negative feedback.
<< <i>Sellers who renege on sales generally deserve a negative feedback. >>
The seller was apparently trying to complete the sale:
"I shared my problem with the colleague who i had made the trade with and he agreed to meet me for lunch at olive garden (and made me buy) to undo our trade. I then attended a meeting and returned to my office. My intent was to contact the buyer and follow thru."
I imagine if the buyer hadn't left negative feedback in such a hurry, this whole issue could have been avoided.

Likewise had the seller simply obeyed the contract he had entered when setting an auction up this could have been avoided.

True.
even if the seller's story is correct, he initially tried to reneg on the sale.
however, they are both here.
the seller seems to currently be in a reasonable state of mind.

If it was won, there wouldn't be all the drama surrounding the coin, would there be ? Since the transaction is yet to be complete... the coin is in limbo. What you are you missing ? I'm keeping it up to date so the facts all fit.

<< <i>Report him to eBay.
He's in violation of the seller's policy that he agreed to when he posted the item for sale. >>
Make sure to tell ebay about the selling price being less that what he wanted.
shame on you

I once set myself a negative feedback to see how it all worked!
