Does a small surface dent always count the same as a wrinkle?

I'm talking about the reverse of a bubble; a slight depression that doesn't damage the surface but is noticeable at a angle under light.

A nine would be a 7. Beckett does not hit you as hard for these type of dents and slight surface wrinkles that astronomers might see. I took a BVG 8.5 Murray out of the holder and sent it to psa and they gave me 7. When I looked harder, I saw a very slight indention, that you are speaking of, not caused by a human. I resubbed back to BVG and got a 9.

On the other hand Becket grades focus and print flaws a little harsher than PSA. Each company has items they look at harder. Neither is wrong and both are great companies. You just have to figure out which cards should go to which company.image

I've got 9's on cards with very slight dents like that. The cards were 9ish even without the dent, so I don't know if PSA missed them, ignored them, or considered that sort of flaw to be within the MINT 9 grade.

What got me thinking about it was that I had a couple of "virtual locks" for 9's that I set aside on this last sub due to one tiny dent on each. Good money cards in 9, meh in 7. While checking something on the SGC site, I noticed that they allowed for a minor surface scratch on an 8, which I found odd compared to PSA.

Agree with digicat. I don't have a 9 but have an 8 with a "dent". Card appears to be an 8 could have possibly been an 8.5 but doubt if it could have been a 9. Seller must have noticed, as it was priced WELL below what 8's go for. I am happy with the card.
