Why so many new 50's Biographies last few years?

I have read the new Biographies of Willie Mays and Roy Campanella in the last few months. The Last Boy about Mickey Mantle has been out for about a year, haven't read that one. And I think there is a new Bio of Yogi Berra. Mays finally agreed to cooperate with his biographer after many years of refusing. Why have there been so many new bios the last few years of 50's baseball players?

That and I think the players start seeing the end of the line for themselves and are more open to having new books on them or contributing to books.

There's also been a TON of pre-1920 biographies lately. Lots of really unexpected names as well. Unfortunately, we still don't have a good Ty Cobb biography. What we've got is junk (the Charles Alexander bio) or written by a fraud (Al Stump). Where's the equivalent of Leigh Montville's "Big Bam" (Babe Ruth)?

  • Because all the Boomers are catered to given their numbers and disposable income. And if there is one generation that won't let go of the past, The Boomers are it.

    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
    3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

Try this. A fair assessment of both players.

    Ty and The Babe
