    Why not?

I would be willing to join any coin club in the country not run by morons, thiefs, people on power trips or those who use their position of authority in a coin club to fill voids in their otherwise fruitless lives. Clubs like that are in scarce supply.

I know halfcentman has not responded yet, but I knew Steve very well, especially as a YN and he was very helpful to me when I was younger teaching me to understand how to collect your way and to never buy something that did not fit into what you were trying to do (patience!). He was extremely likable and amassed a fantastic esoteric collection of ferrris wheel related items.

We lost Steve way to young. He will always be remembered at least in NJ circles.

Very, very well. He and Carol were at our wedding in 1995, and I met him at the NJNS when I first joined in 1987.

I attended several of their ANA Convention "blowout" parties in their suite, the last in 2008. Carol was a math teacher (I have a math degree), and Steve was a chemistry teacher (my wife is a chemistry teacher). Sadly, we were at this viewing in 2009. He had more fight in the tip of his pinky than most people do in their entire body.

Here is a picture of the two outside of the 1995 or 1996 ANA Convention Banquet. It's how I choose to remember him.

    Thanks for asking,

    Greg

If I knew someone in a club I'd be inclined to join but I'd have too much anxiety walking in off the street.

Otherwise, I'm an ANA and PNNA member and of course a Collectors Club member. image

  • I belong to the Bay Cities Coin Club that meets in El Segundo, CA. The last few years have seen a growth spurt, with average attendance going up from about 15 per meeting to about 35. One explanation is that doing away with the educational segment of the club meeting, and shortening the meeting was a smart move as far as keeping membership interested and returning to the meetings. There is a chance the decision will be reversed. If the attendance starts down with the return of the educational segment, that would be another data point.

  • Few clubs in bayou country and if there was one, I don't think i would join any club that would allow me to join, their standards would be to low.
