<< <i>Crack-and-switch for a $10 card Brilliant >>
I don't see any reason to suggest it is phony. I've bought from them before and they were always very professional with me. I'd call this a late-in-the day grading error, nothing more.

The holder looks like it has frosted edges to me. Look along the top edge, right side and bottom edge. Looks like it was cracked out glued back together.

Why would someone bother with a $16 card? >>
Maybe they cracked it out back when the card was worth $21.

I assume you are joking. If not, please look at every edge (especially the left), you can see the screwdriver marks. This card is a PSA 4, not a borderline 8, not a grading mistake. You can give the seller the benefit of the doubt, that they didn't do this themselves, maybe someone is consigning it, LOL

Higher chance of success with a cheap card. Buyer gets the card, and says oh well...it was only 16 bucks. Meanwhile, they resub the actual 8, get another slab, rinse and repeat. This is actually a brilliant way to liquidate ex cards at a nm/mt price.
Now wheres my screwdriver and gorilla glue...I need make a couple "Gem mint" griffey rookies out of the cards that are lining my hampsters cage at the moment.
<< <i>Junk card. Either a grader was having a bad day or someone pulled a fast one. The seller should do the hobby a favor and toss it. >>
Appears that they already have - stand up seller.
