There's just something about a Gothic Florin . . .

that I love. Got this one at a local show yesterday. I love the design. Not a Mac quality coin but I like it non the less.

Yes, there is. Even in the lower grades like that, they often have "CircCam" contrast, and I like 'em.
I think I have a holey example somewhere.

Proof!
Also a PCGS50 1854!
Ouch, these are the true stars IMO of the Gothic florin series other than the 1851 proof!!
Well, just Love coins, period.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Not only does the lettering style and use of roman numerals make it very attractive and unique, but unlike many designs out there, it can be attractive in just about any grade across the spectrum. From a G/VG coin like the one above, through UNC and Proof, they're all attractive. Some designs devolve into lumps of metal as design elements disappear down the grading ladder, but this one retains its allure no matter where it is positioned.
I've occasionally considered putting together a "grading set" of the type from AG through BU, for no other reason than to capture the transformation as you go up and down the scale.
