I have been assisting Glenn Holsonbake for about a year and a half and have
met Andy Lustig numerous times - and each time I look at his coins, I admire
his Barber errors.
Well, Andy was a few tables away from Glenn's at Pittsburgh - and when Andy walked by,
he said how bored he was [ very light traffic as everyone has commented on before ] .
I asked how I could relieve his boredom - and he kiddingly said..." you could buy one of my coins !"
... they say strike while the iron is hot ... so I said, okay - make me a deal on that Barber Quarter
you have - because you've had it in your case long enough - either sell it or marry it !!
He laughed ... then looked skyward ... as if looking for Divine Inspiration... then looked
directly at me and said... I'll sell it to you for "X" Dollars - and I have never quoted a price
this low before. Knowing what his ask price has been for the last few years ... I said sure,
bring it over. { There is more to the story but I'll save that for another time.}
The latest addition to my 1898 Mint Set: { The top picture was taken with my iPhone }
Obviously, I'll have this professionally imaged in the near future.

Obviously this error fits in a PCGS slab, but is this a slightly thicker PCGS to accomodate the Die Cap, or is the die cap not overly deep?
Looks to be at least an MS62+ too, maybe it's time for a regrade

That's really cool. On the Obv. image you can see the overly huge face in front of the normal size face.
If times get hard, you could always market it as a beer bottle opener in case someone with more money than sense needs one.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Very cool Mike!
Amazing error, Mike!!

Jeremy,
I looked at it tons of times in Chicago -
but the price was too high - its still
very expensive - but I have the funds now
and Andy was only 20 feet away this trip.
I'll have it in Baltimore and FUN if you're
going to be there.

I'm no error maven, but that is something even I can drool over.

It's an awesome Barber error especially in hand
It's in a regular thickness PCGS slab but it's so tightly fit that it looks like it could break free at any second!
That is one of those "Wow that's different" in a good way

<< <i>Wow. I'm not into errors much, but that one looks awesome! >>
I'm not either, but I could see a piece like this getting me interested in them.
Uncommon for the series, no? Way cool.
Salvador Dali.
No need to bend it to make it look like the famous picture with the warped watches; it already is a masterpiece!
