Pittsburgh ANA Show

Let me start by admitting that I lurk often but rarely post. Recently I made the decision to move most of my collection to cash and concentrate on my first set, the Lincoln Cents. The Pittsburgh show was close (NE Ohio) so my wife and I took the day Friday and headed east. I agree with most of the posting in that the show at least on Friday was not well attended. I did enjoy myself and made some nice connections with some dealers and people from these boards. The reason for this post specifically is that I must report that I had a really good experience with Coastal Carolina Coins, I found them professional, helpful, and friendly. I would highly recommend them. Secondly, I'm not pointing any fingers here just asking, is it common for dealers to drink alcohol at there tables, I thought it a bit odd and don't remember ever seeing it before. I can't really say why but I didn't like it. Anyone else?

I have my standards as well and anyone who consumes alcohol before 6 a.m. local time has a obvious problem.

    Uh oh, I'm outed!

Seriously, runningman, I'm sorry if you were offended, but it is simply something I enjoy doing in the afternoon when the show slows down, including sharing wine with some of my customers. But rest assured, embibing in alcoholic beverages at coins shows is not a new phenomena, it has been going on for many years but probably most dealers are a little more discrete about it than I am.

I have seen beer, wine and spirits at coin shows... not unusual. Certainly nothing to get upset about. Cheers, RickO

In talking to the ANA staff they say it is amazing how much alcohol they find after a show. Along with other weird stuff.....
