A question for PCGS

I am not sure if this was covered but

If I have a coin ( or numerous coins) that have been slabbed by PCGS without a details grade, just slabbed, is there any service to have these coins now details graded?

I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

I seriously doubt there will be any freebies on prior Genuine designations. Be prepared to pay for Regrade service. The added layer of service on Genuine was done exactly for added revenue. Would you really expect a comp.?

I doubt a comp, I wonder maybe about say a reholder fee?

Another question is how would these effect registry set points?

Anything with potential value I would crack out and send back in...maybe they will have a different opinion the second time around?...maybe it will make it into a non-Genuine type of holder? If not then it can be details graded if that is what you are looking for.....

Are you talking "sample slabs" as opposed to those in "genuine Holders" ????

No, just coins that did not holder the first time around.

    I am guessing it is a re-grade.
Reason being is that they didn't grade them before, if they noted a problem. Therefore, there is no grade for them in their system and it would need to be graded from scratch (no pun intended)....as such, it takes the same amount of time from the grader as a new submission.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Any comment from the PCGS folks?

Responded to the comment on the shareholders, we are going to be happy no matter what.

Maybe that is an idea, a shareholder discount image

Just send them in for regrades. Detail-grading is now available for genuines. (But frankly, I'd crack them and send raw.)

I guess there is nothing to lose.

I wonder if they will be crossing over NGC details grade coins?

That's a good question. But I can't see any advantage to submitting the coin in a details holder. I mean, it can't get any worse. Why do it? Unless you're worried it might come back "questionable authenticity".
