Do they make any cancer bars?

bestmrbestmr Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭
Not bars for the zodiac sign but that support or have a saying or showing of support? My dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about this time last year. He did his chemo and radiation and then waited for a couple months before having his esophagus removed. They did some follow up tests and everything looked good. Well, turns out it has spread to several parts in his body, mainly his back and right hip, so it's hard for him to move around. And this time, it's not treatable. They can only give him radiation and chemo to help ease his pain but his clock is ticking. So I was wondering if there is any bars or rounds out there that I may buy to always carry around with me. And if you don't want to sell, please post some so I can see what some look like.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I'm unaware of any cancer cure silver bars or medals. Did you try a search on eBay or just google it?

I did but either came up with the zodiac sign, 95% of the items, or came up with a few rounds that were sterling silver. image I could just be not typing in the right search words though so I'll keep looking.

Sorry to hear that. My mom & mother in law both passed from cancer. Rather than carrying around something that says cancer on it, maybe consider doing what I do and carry something that was my moms to have a little more positive effect. Not trying to tell you what to do, but a ring she always wore is always on my keychain and I will tell you that it helps to do so at times. I'd just rather look at something that was hers than something that reminds me of what she died of. To each, his own...just a thought.

Yeah, I have a green, blue and white speckled rubber bracelet that I got at the cancer place that I can wear but as far as personable effects, my dad never wears much in terms of jewelry. A wallet is about all he carries around. I'll keep looking though for a round or something.

Buy him a nice Morgan or Peace dollar as a gift. He will greatly appreciate it and some time in the distant future when he passes, you will have a pocket piece memento to remember him by. Even a non-collector can appreciate a big, old silver coin.

Sorry, but it makes me cringe when I hear this, it is not true, this hogwash, that chemo and rad will reduce pain, the doctors are full of crap and he can still live yearsimage------BigE

Maybe. Before he started doing chemo and radiation for his throat last year, he could swallow but it was hit or miss what he ate. As he started doing his treatments, it swelled up to where it made it difficult to swallow anything. However, after several days, the swelling went down to where he could eat like normal again. So, we are optimistic that it helps out like last time. It may not help with the pain, but it might help with him getting to move around more. Atm, he is mainly in his recliner as its the most comfortable thing.

They told me 6 mos in june 09. Only do the least chemo and rad, make sure he eats "superfood", no sugars. Research ways to boost immune system, have genetic test to see exact cancer makeup and supplements and herbs/foods that are best, cheer him up and make him laugh and give him hope. This is way better than any chemo can doimage--------BigE

I have another idea for you. Get him a coin or a round that depicts a turtle. A turtle is a symbol of long life, and good luck.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

edit: your idea of a birth year walker is a good one

I might look into the turtle rounds or something of the sort. i might also just find a nice 1944 walker, his birth year, and carry that about. Thanks for all the warm wishes. I'm trying to be optimistic but idk. I have a feeling he'll go fast..
