Got my 52 Mays in...you guys think it will bump? Appreciate input.

Hi guys,

When I bought this the scan wasn't very good...now with card in hand I don't see any wrinkles or other issues. Appreciate your comments relative to a possible re-sub.

Thanks Much

Jeff

free of any technical issue that i can't see, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see that card in a holder with a higher grade.

give it a shot, the upside could be big. nice card. image

Looks MUCH better than a 5! Send it in. Are you going to crack it or send it in for a review?

    Whatever you decide good luck!

The only potential problems I see with it:

    1. Centering, although even with that centering it could be a higher grade
    2. There is a dark spot on the bottom right corner in the scan; is that discoloration on the card or just in the scan?
    3. In the scan, the top right corner looks funny; is the card slightly curled there or is there an issue?

I agree that, unless there are hidden flaws with the card, these are the potential issues. HOWEVER, even with those issues, I think that card deserves to be sitting in a 6 or maybe even a 6.5 holder. If you get the 1 point bump it's another $300 - $350 in your pocket.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Compared to some of the horrendous looking PSA 8's Ive seen over the years that card could easily be in a 7 holder, ofcourse it would need to be cracked out.

    Guys...thanks for the input...

    Wanted to address the questions...

The only potential problems I see with it:

    1. Centering, although even with that centering it could be a higher grade?

    A. Centering is good enough for a straight 7

    2. There is a dark spot on the bottom right corner in the scan; is that discoloration on the card or just in the scan?

    A. I don't see a dark spot on card. I think you may be referring to where the PSA logo is on the plastic holder right on the bottom right corner.

    3. In the scan, the top right corner looks funny; is the card slightly curled there or is there an issue?

    A. Don't see any issues or bends.

I say you jump one grade to 6. Nice card.

Without question a PSA 6 card. It won't ever see a 7 slab I think, mostly because of the ink loss on the cheek; but great card.

  • I never have the guts to crack it out, but since it is your card, I think it is a must do. If you send in for a resubmit, I do not think you will see anything over a 5.5. I agree with others, if you crack it out, I think it will bring 6 or 6.5.

Good luck, and please let us know what happens.

The dark spot on the bottom-right is just the PSA logo in the slab, because it's also on the bottom-right of the back.

I don't think it bumps personally, that looks like a 5 to me if I were to guess the grade.

Based on the 5 you threw up Jeff, maybe it is a 6. Clearly, I don't know 52's. I would be proud to own that Mays either in a 5 holder or 6 holder. Nice job Jeff.
