Opinions needed on this 8 Reales

Is it common for these coins to have rust spots? I'm concerned that what appears to be corrosion could possibly still be active, is there anything I can do to help this coin? How would this coin be graded details wise?

Corrosion like this is not common and I would think it's sitting on the surface and came from being in direct contact with another corroded material. I would start this off with an acetone soak to see how much would fall off the surface.

XF 45 (on a good day) or 40 (if the graders have hangovers) detail without taking luster in consideration. Tough to be more precise with the usual weak strike areas on both the obverse and reverse.

I let it sit in acetone for a little bit, but the stuff on the surface won't come off... Is there anything else to try, or is it best left alone?

Just realized my reverse photo is upside down! Sorry! image

Is there any way to get a closer shot of the 2 spots that worry me the most - under the first 1 in the date and "N" in "IND" on the reverse? Also an image of the edge and weight, if you can. Judging by the color (black, red, orange), there appears to be multiple types of contamination. I'll take another look when i'm home, since the image looks too small on my blackberry. But even at this size, the design elements and surfaces look like they should for this series.

It depends on how much patience you have. If you could leave it in refined olive oil or mineral oil for a few months, that might loosen up some of it, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Dia. 39 at narrowest point, to 40mm at the widest (It's out of round)...Don't have a scale for an accurate weight. Here are the requested pictures, hope they are sufficient....Thanks!
