Mega Rip 4000!!!

Ok so after the generosity of some of the board members here I've come up with an idea.

The idea is this Im going to rip this all and posts the goodies or hits as a I go along, but Im going to need your guys help with some of the stuff as Im not 100% sure as to what im meant to be looking for RC wise and star wise, I know some of the players but I know Im missing loads, So If there are any HOF cards or notable RC's to be had in any of the stuff Im going to be opening you gonna have to let me know. This will culminate in me opening a pack of 1976 Topps that was part of the package that scmavl and gameusedhoops sent me.

Also if you have a favorite player you are more than welcome to request I post him to you if he doesnt fall in the star/rc catergorie, or if he does, you can have a double if I get one.

So there is quiet a bit of material to get through here, let me know of anything speacile insert wise, star player, frikkin anything that I shudnt be putting into the junk pile which I constanly find myself having to go thru to grab HOF's that were unknown to me and almost discarded...

Let me know what you think, good idea bad idea? Thre are 3 boxes Ill start going thru tomorrow: Which 1 first??

topps big baseball 1988 (i Think - pic is attached)

1992 fleer ultra series 2 baseball

There are many other packs
score 91 baseball series 1
UD NFL 1991 high series
PAcific 91 football
donruss 92 series 1 & 2 baseball

Here are what were going to be working through and working towards: that 1976 packs

Frank Thomas is my favorite childhood player, known as the "Big Hurt."

Anyway, the article in there has several pictures of my cards and an interview with member BigHurt2000 and myself.

Just curious if any of your friends, neighbors or co-worker in Africa have any interest or knowledge of BB Cards? I'm just saying if they do you'd be the most popular guy around. Is there any market at all for cards there?
    Collecting 1970 Topps baseball
  • Theres no market as far as Im aware. However there are some baseball clubs not too far away from where I am. Infact the club where I play soccer doubles as a baseball club and whilst down there the other day they were doing there pre season training. I saw some of them had MLB tops on so I though Id ask them about their favourtie players and who they thought were the best players of all time. I jsut got blank faces, 1 guy told me he was the best of all time, another guy mumbled Babe Ruth, They didnt seem to know much about Mickey Mantle, Jackie Rabinson, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan or anyone really. Im thining of going and donating them all my commons and stuff after Im done as Im planning on relocating and wont be able to take all the stuff with me.

Anyways Im going to an International Cricket Match Tonight, between South African and Australia, it should be amazing. My brother for some strange reason is a massive Australian fan and I am well a South African. Hopefully we can get some autos for him today he actualy has a game issued top were hoping to get signed today...

    anyways keep well

Cards to be on the lookout for:
'88 Topps - Tom Glavine RC
'89 Donruss - Ken Griffey Jr RC, Randy Johnson RC, John Smoltz RC
'89 Fleer - Randy Johnson RC, Billy Ripken F Face Error, Ken Griffey Jr RC
'89 Topps - Craig Biggio RC? Steve Avery RC? John Smoltz RC? Nothing too valuable here
'90 Topps - Frank Thomas RC. If you find the variation without his name on the front, you just won the lottery. Same with the George Bush card. Both are one in a million (or more).

My favorite card from this era was the 1989 Topps Gregg Jefferies Future Star. Just a really great looking card. Worthless now, of course.
2.5 is pretty much my speed.
  • Here are the results so far, Im pretty happy, I finally got amy Deion Sanders card, it was out the 5th last pack in the box, I was starting to worry I wasnt gonna find Prime Time... Anywyas He made it home now...

Also got a little Frank Thomas action going on there for BunchoBull

    Deion Baby!!

Bunch o bull I did find another couple Frank Thomas Cards, and I will post up scans of all the new stuff i was able to find in the packs.

    Thanks again guys!!! Thanks allot

  • << <i>great cards but i've never heard of Frank Thomas.... >>

Youve never heard of Frank Thomas, Wow where are you from?
    image
  • Ok so Ive been working my way through all the amazing packs SCmavl and gameusedhoops sent me

Here are some of the pics of what I thought were the goodies!!

Was allot of fun, anyways it is now about time to rip a pack of 1976 Topps, I was thinking of maybe throwing in a 82OPC and 84OPC if you guys can tell me specifically what Im looking for in them.

Been Through many packs and many beers in the last few weeks. Thanks, This has been allot of fun!!

Here are some of the pics:

Little Frankk Thomas action to start us off image Aong with Bo, Deion, Rod Ken and a few others...

    image

Then there is BArry and some of his mates, I was really impressed by the Skybox Inugural edition, i thought the cards looked real cool, nice colours and designs IMO

    image

A few more of the guys

    image

Anyways we gonna be ripping this pack of 1976 very soon here is what I have as key cards to look for:

    Hank Aaron
    Robin Yount
    Nolan Ryan
    Reggie Jackson
Catfish Hunter -- These all look like the most valuble in PSA 10 according to this SMR thingamabob - I might be deciphering it wrong but other cards that would be of interest IMO

    All the other HOF's, specifically:
    Brett
    Eckersley RC
    Rose
    Gehrig
    Ruth
    Cobb
    Williams

Lets just say that I am getting A little bit excited and should be ripping this thing in the next few hours:

If you guys could list someof the hits from 82 and 84 OPC we might be able to rip into a pack of that in a bit aswell!!!

In the words of someone around here- Yeeeha

    Peace

    Craig

'82 OPC has the Ripken rookie. '84 has Mattingly and Strawberry, but Ripken, Boggs, Sandberg, and Gwynn are still good cards in that year. Hope you get an Aaron in the '76 pack!
