Does anyone know why the show is Thursday , Friday and Saturday ? Most people ... like myself , work Thursday and Friday which leaves only 1 day to navigate the show .

I hope they're not picking up the tab on the general fund of the A.N.A. !

Here's a link to the dinner Kranky is hosting Friday night for forum members. And yep, there will be a governor there. I hope you can make it! Supposedly it's a crazy thought, having a woman in attendance, but I just might show up anyway. Now if we could convince Charmy to come, I'd sure appreciate the additional estrogen in the room!

<< <i>Many, if not most, national shows follow a similar schedule. >>
Considering that most dealers also have stores that are open on a Monday to Friday schedule, major coin shows have typically been Wednesday or Thursday through Saturday or Sunday.
As many dealers have complained about having Sunday hours at a show (preventing them from getting back home before Monday), many shows have eliminated Sunday hours.
With some dealers now leaving on Friday, I think you will soon see a review of policies on show openings and closings.

How about a day that there are evening hours 11-7 or later ?
I am trying to get my wife more involved with the hobby, but she has lots of other interests (most of all our first grandson!) - the dinners give her a chance to meet other collectors in a setting that is casual and not coin-specific - I am hoping that should anything happen to me before my collection is properly arranged for dispersal, she will have some trusted, familiar sources to turn to.

Most shows clear out by late afternoon if not sooner. Some shows stay open until 7pm but by then the room is almost always deserted.

I think most of the serious collectors, like myself, are willing to use vacation days in order to attend the shows on Thur and/or Fri.

My biggest problem is that I am a seasonal worker (self employed too) and I need to make my money when it is time.
