I'm looking for a relatively high grade clad Kennedy Half with nice metal flow on the obverse, where Kennedy's head looks to have a halo around it. Many 1971-Ds seem to have this feature, with few in susequent years. Could this be a result of halves being made following this date with lower relief dies? If so, what is the year progression of high to low relief dies in this series?

<< <i>what I'm wondering about is at what points the dies were redesigned to create a lower relief coin. >>
This was done in numerous steps with one of the largest being 1996. Actually it isn't so much
the relief was lowered dramatically that year as that the obverse was no longer convex, stick-
ing up. They reversed it and made the obverse concave creating the illusion that the relief was
lowered even more than it was.

I believe that was the year the obverse had the hair part returned and the hair emphasized.
