Why does TrueView service continue to be a near-complete secret?

lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,608 ✭✭✭✭✭
I couldn't find a single mention of it on the site... anywhere.

There is no mention of it on the submission forms... anywhere.

The price is not mentioned anywhere, but last I heard from word of mouth on the forums, it's gone from $10/coin to $20/coin.

Why is it such a big secret? I mean, if they don't want to offer the service, then they shouldn't offer the service.

If they DO want to offer the service (and I think it's a nice service, personally, if a bit pricey), then why don't they advertise it? Or at least mention it... somewhere?

Geez.

Couldn't agree more. And how many times have I heard the answer to a question of how to fill out the submission sheet "write it in under other"?

That's the sign of a horribly designed submission sheet. Nothing should be needed to be written in under "other".

If the desmal point was over 1 I might use it. $2 wouldn't be too bad, but actually it should be included in the grade/variety fee. I mean it cost $42 + 8 + shipping for a variety on economy! For that wouldn't ya think they could give ya a pic!

    I do!

Probably because even with the lack of publicity it is being tasked to the limit with those that know it is $20.00 plus the certification or reholder cost.
Granted that by now the form should have it included.

Why do I have to pay for trueview AGAIN when I send a coin in for a regrade? image

If they're tasked to the limit, then the higher price makes sense, I suppose.

The secrecy and lack of mention of it ANYWHERE does not.

    Thank you.

That's the first mention I have seen.

I couldn't find it on the sitemap, and didn't see anywhere to do a keyword search.

No, as you can see, they do this instead (note the professional cut and paste at cert number image):

Oh, and I should had added that I think its not on the submission form because they probably couldn't handle the volume in their tiny photo department. image

I love PCGS TrueView, especially on colorfully toned coins.
Once you get the slab out of the way, you can really max out the color without glare.
I bought this beauty for $330 from ThePennyLady back in May, but I didn't know how good it could look until I had it TrueView'd out of the slab.
