BGS 9.5 Cross To PSA 10????

Looking for some thoughts/opinions on crossing over a 1994 UD Auto Alex Rodriguez with the following subgrades (9 centering, 9.5 all others). My questions are:

1. What is your experience crossing over a BGS 9.5 to a PSA 10?
2. Does it even make sense to do this (in terms of resale value)?
3. Is there any risk involved if I state a minimum grade?
4. Is it too much of a reach to get a PSA 10 with one of the subgrades being a 9?

Thanks for all of your thoughts!

I wouldn't risk it even if all the sub grades were 9.5. I am sure people have crossed successfully. However I think your chances are better if you crack and submit vs a crossover.

Keep in mind that you're going to be out $35-40 in grading fees and postage both ways, since you need to submit any pre 1997 AU's to the PSA/DNA grading service.

If you did manage to cross it, I don't know how much more a PSA 10 is worth over a BGS 9.5 of this card. It'd have to be significantly more than $40 to make it worth your while.

I wouldn't bother personally, but since BGS has graded 540 copies of that card and PSA only 40 there may be a premium for a ARod PSA 10 for a collector who would use it as a Registry item... not worth the costs imo.

    1. Lots of success as long as the card looks like a 10
    2. Depends on the submission costs...see if you can research sale values of a 9.5 vs a PSA 10. I've made some decent returns doing it simply because so many modern cards seem to go to BGS
    3. No
    4. No

good luck if you choose to do it.
