1917 Error Cents - new addition

MFHMFH Posts: 11,720 ✭✭✭✭
I have been buying 1917 error cents over the last few
years as an adjunct to the regular 1917 collection - &
here's the newp:

...edit... I forgot to mention, this is my Dad's birthyear. He passed away three years ago and I miss him - it seems more each day.

I thought it was a pretty wide O/C myself.

Here's another one I have from San Francisco from 1917

Neato. But why 1917, specifically? Was the Mint more error-prone that year, or somethin'?

Edit to add- whoa- now even I can be impressed by error coins, it seems- that last piece in the post above this is awesome!

Nice! Hey, have you got the doubled die obverse cent in your 1917 collection? It's one of the major varieties for the series.

The 1917 DDO Lincoln is IMHO very over rated - the doubling
is so infantisimally small - I can't justify the money being asked
    for that minor DDO.

Now, if it were similar to either the 55 or 72 DDO's - then that
would be a horse of a different color !

I have a few in my short sets but not that old.

I also have the 1917-D Cent - and a few Mercury errors from 1917.

That combo O/C and straight clip is the earliest I've ever seen on a Lincoln cent, just an amazing coin. I have a clipped 1917 Type I SLQ but I think the picture was lost when my friend's server crashed last year, if I can find it I'll edit this post.
