I went.
I saw.
I sold 3 coins which made me happy.
I looked and looked and looked for Mercury Dime Varieties. I found a good number of them, none unattributed though and all were RAW. Most of them were priced as though they were in PCGS Plastic Fully Attributed at Full Auction Price Plus Juice and shipping though. Kind of funny considering there are really only 5 people that are actively building a PCGS Complete Variety Set. Maybe someone will buy them. I only found one that I actually "NEEDED" and I passed on it. It was a very nice MS65FB 1939-D/D but I just was not 100% convinced, almost but just not quite 100% so that is why I passed on it. It was priced at full PCGS retail price guide(non-variety)...and then since it was RAW it would have cost another $65 to get it into an attributed holder............IF IT WAS THE VARIETY! I did not want to put that much into a "risk".
I talked to many very nice dealers. It is a very nice sized show. I searched A LOT of coins over the 3.25 hours that I was there. I was pleased to meet CoinKidd855 (Paul) for the first time. We chatted for a little while a couple of times. Nice to put a face with the name. I also ran into Walkerguy21D (Greg) by chance. I was talking to a couple of people about Merc Varieties and he overheard the conversation...and just based on that GUESSED WHO I WAS. I guess there are not a ton of people that know there are at least 8 different Merc 1936 DDOs and live in Florida. Again, nice to meet another forum member!
Nice show and a nice time...just didn't get to buy stuff I was looking for unfortunately. That's okay, I had a good time!

The show seemed a little off, though most of the regular dealers were there, with just a few folks absent.
The floor traffic was very light, though the dealers I talked to were selling a few things. Very little buzz, and not
much horse trading going on, although since dealer day was yesterday, I know some of that was already concluded.
Besides keyman64, Coinkid was also there, working the floor over for toned Morgans.
I did not find much of interest, but I am getting more selective in what I'm after. And even if they had something of interest on display,
most of the time it had little problems that became evident with the coin in hand. Oh well.
Picked up a choice VF++ 09-S dime with very nice skin.
Picked up a raw 09-O dime for < MS60 Ask; the coin has bright central luster with nice old rim toning - my gut grade is
that it's a 63, but we'll see once I put the strong loupe and light on it.
Also picked up an 09P quarter in AU50 with original skin.....a common date I know, but it was in a dealer's boxed stock with no grade or price/code on it. When I politely asked for a price, he said $30.....well I couldn't pass that up.
Thought long on an 1883 NGC Proof 64 cent, priced right, but not sure what I would do with it. Same dealer had a Proof 65 1940 walker in an OGH that looked undergraded. The price seemed Ok, but I just don't know that market, so I passed.

I wish I had gone to the Lakeland show
but its a hike to get there from Naples.
I did however make it to Pine Island and
picked up 40 coins for consignment for
the Pittsburgh show.
Barber Quarters [ XF - MS ][mix of PCGS & NGC ]
and Barber Halves [ Key & Semi Key dates
and the majority are NGC ]
and a nice group of SLQ's - [ XF -AU ].
Stop by Glenn's table for first crack at them.

<< <i>I'm looking forward to the Sarasota Show which is larger and then of course FUN FUN FUN! >>
While the Sarasota Show is also a pretty good show, it certainly isn't close in size to Collectorama.
Collectorama is easily twice as large, if not three times as large with a lot more larger dealers. Seofo
