Also there is one reported 1892-CC Morgan in a GSA, just no one knows where it is at, well at least Whitman Publishing doesn't.
3 tied for #1
Edited: Book says Rank Reported
1889-CC 1st 1
1892-CC 1st 1
1893-CC 1st 1
1890-CC 4th 3,939
the 92 cc is a throwup, if it ever comes out ill be interested to see what price war occurs. Thats presuming it wasnt cracked out of its GSA case by now.
I have seen the 1889-CC which was for sell in Baltimore about a year ago or more, and not beyond your wildest imagination is that
coin DMPL.
This is not a guarantee and I have seen some grading that I definately do not agree upon with my opinion shared by quite a few others. They have certified it in their opinion, period.
That having been said, I generally do agree at least somewhat closely with their opinions.
See the controversy on the darkside about the Great Britain 1951 matte proof halfcrown graded 61 that IMO having seen it close up and being familiar with the issue should be between a 63 and more likely a 64.
The picture of this 89cc looks at least PL though and would like to see such a coin up close in hand. I am a bit "old school" in thinking that a DMPL should have huge wow factor and look for all intents nearly a proof.
Well, just Love coins, period.
Just don't expect an ANACS UDM designation.
<< <i>I've seen the 89CC - it's not a black and white deep mirror. It meets the technical definition of DPL.

Makes sense it's not the new market definition of DMPL but the old school one.
Has anyone ever seen the 92cc GSA??
I remember when the 89-CC was offered for sale, I believe for $35-38k. in the late 90's.
Also, another rumor out there was that the 89-cc and 92-cc/93-cc were owned by "prominent" families connected to the political establishment at the time......so no chance someone rec'd it in a "mixed CC" box.....
