Was it a very large check that the 4 week delay in depositing it may have had an impact?
I initially was thinking along the same lines, but that's why the bank gives you those little registers, so you can track how much you spend vs how much you have. It wouldn't surprise me if that's the reason ultimately given by the check-writer.

In any case, I hope this works out for you. >>
It is only a 4 figure check. Lucky for me I passed on selling other coins that would have been in the 5 figure range. Still, I am out 4 figures.
Whenever I get checks at a coin show, I take them to my bank on the same day!!! I've taken checks from these guys in the past w/o problems, hopefully it's just a mistake that is promptly fixed.
Why not call them instead of trying to create drama in public. If they refused to make things right then post here. Otherwise it make you look like a drama queen!!!
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>I know they switched banks. You should reach out to Bob Higgins. He will make it right. >>
Ah, with the time lag between when the check was written and when it was cashed, this may be what caused the problem. That said, it's always a good idea when closing an account to wait until all outstanding checks have cleared.

My bank said that THEIR bank refused to pay and would be mailing me the check back. They have my coin and I am out that and a fee as well.

Nevertheless I never thought that they were out of funds, but I could not figure out what went wrong until I talked with Bob.
Again, sorry to rush to posting this but I was in shock and had a laptop handy (bad mix
You should have done that first, instead of being a Keyboard Commando.

Agreed. As mentioned in my previous post.
