The Lions are the better team because they don't have Jerry Jones as the owner. Maybe we can work a tradeimage

Right now, no question the Lions are significantly better. As for the Lyons, I agree with Dimeman, the Cowboys are better than that bunch of Anglo-Saxon has-beens..

Anybody that can look at the players on both teams and not see the Cowboys are not better is just a Cowboy hater.

We had several of out starters out on both sides of the ball and still was creaming them if not for the 3 Romo pics.

The Lions were very very lucky to win that game and will not fare so well against good teams that don't "GIVE" them points.

No discussion here can settle the debate. I believe the Lions already settled the matter on the field last Sunday.

The Lions didn't settle anything........Romo gave them the game....literally!!! And until Romo learns how to play the game Dallas will continue to lose to lesser talented teams!

I do too.........that would be 2 easy wins for Dallas! Even with Romo playing bad!

Does Romo not play for the Cowboys? If the QB of the Cowboys gives games away, doesn't that make the opponent, whose QB doesn't give games away, the better team? Your logic no-worky.

Fact is, the Lions beat Dallas IN Dallas. Argument over.

    Dimeman,

You can't isolate Romo from the Cowboys as a team. His skills and talent and decision-making or even his lack thereof all contribute significantly to how good or bad the Cowboys are as a team.

He makes a lot of mistakes, yes, but without his performance in the first half, Dallas would not have even been in the position to blow that game--they'd have been behind in the first place. Football is a team sport and if Dallas had a better option at QB they'd utilize it. Truth is they do not. And Stafford is also a much better QB as well.

Like it or not the Lions are a great Football team with a ton of young talent, fair being fair Miles Austin has been out but I will take the Lions over the Cowboys.

Thanks, but you guys didn't have to remind me how great the team was that Emmit played on. It was the BEST NFL team EVER and since.

But that does not take away from Emmit's great running ability. He was a tremendous down hill "scoring" runner. The first defender never got him and he didn't run around like a chicken with his head cut off like Sanders. If teams would have defensed Sanders correctly he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did. STAY HOME.....don't swarm to him so when he reverses........guess what......there's somebody there.

Here is a list of runners besides Emmit that I would rather have than Sanders.

    No paticular order:

    Marcus Allen
    Walter Payton
    Gale Sayers
    Earl Cambell
    Jim Brown
    John Riggins

I know I am leaving some out ...... these are just the ones that come to mind.

How did a discussion about which 2011 NFL team is better, Cowboys or Lions, turn into a discussion about Emmitt Smith?? LOL..

And Barry Sanders was better than Smith, btw....Sanders had hardlly any talent around him and was still incredible. As good as Smith was, he also had arguaby one of the greatest offensive lines in NFL history up front blocking for him. There's really no comparison.

  • This is no reflection on anyone in particular but....................

Whenever I see a discussion about why a team (Or person) won or lost (And in particular LOST),
I see someone bring up the subject of errors, pitching mistakes, interceptions, fumbles,
fell on the ice, missed a return on a serve, which is usually proceeded by ".....If it wasn't for that....."

Well, guess what? That IS part of the game(s)! You could say that about ANYTHING in ANY Sport,
and make the excuse that if this or that happened or didn't happen, the outcome would have
    been different-WELL NO **** SHERLOCK!

These are the reasons that should NOT be used as an excuse for losing a contest. These are
ALL, again-ALL the EXACT REASONS teams/individuals win or lose in their respective contests-All part
of the overall game, that is why they keep statistics-Batting Averages, ERA, Passes Completed,
    Passes intercepted and so on....

So please, it is fine to discuss it, but, lets not use that famous line....."IF IT WASN'T for.....".
    It doesn't hold water.

I know "IF" Babe Ruth never played for the Yankees, maybe they would have NEVER been the
storied Franchise that was/is today. But, that is the reality, he DID get Sold by the
RED SOX to the Yankees and its history.

  • Oh yea, about Barry Sanders, "......All that running around"

Uh, isn't that how he piled up so many yards in such a short time?

And if they would have defensed (Is that actually a word?) Smith
"PROPERLY", he wouldn't have piled up the yards as well.

LOL!!!!! Are you actually trying to say that opposing defenses that played against the Cowboys and Emmitt Smith didn't have gameplans just to stop Emmitt? Did you even watch football back then?
  • LAWNMOWER MAN....

GO BACK AND READ the originator of this particular part of this post (DIMEMAN).

He's the one who made the statement about
    "PROPER DEFENSE".

    I was just doing a tongue-in-cheek reversing
of that statement around about Barry Sanders
and how they did not "PROPERLY DEFENSE" him.

And yes, of course I did watch Football then!

My apologies. I see that now.
