Thinking of Making an Offer--What Do You Think?

Below is a sell sheet from someone. The details are below the sell sheet:
BASEBALL INVENTORY

EXCEPT FOR THE THREE FLEER SETS ALL CARDS ARE TOPPS
OK, the details:
The 1980 vending case is open and the person sorted the cards, then put them back in the vend boxes in numerical order. By the volume of stars and Hendersons, it is obvious it was not cherrypicked.
The 1982 and 1983 vending cases are open, but the boxes are supposedly unsearched. I don't know if the other vending cases are open or not, but except for 1984 it doesn't really matter.
The 1985 6-box rack case is sealed, the other three rack boxes have all the packs but are not sealed in a case.
All of the sets are supposedly "mint." The 1975, 1976, and 1977 sets were purchased at shows, and the other sets were hand-built from vending cases by the owner. The owner says the sets he bought at shows are just as nice as the sets he built.
I know that the generic question of "what is a good offer" is difficult to answer because there are a lot of different factors, such as whether you are going to built sets or get into the grading game or whatever you plan on doing with it to sell the cards, as well as other people's opinions of what "fair" means. Does anyone have any opinions on this collection?

Can you inspect? Would you have to have them shipped?
Bosox1976
I think you would have room to make a profit with that number. Lower is better but I wouldnt go so much over 2,000 for the collection
I'd offer 2500 sight unseen
If I could assure myself the 82s were not cherrypicked of Ripkens, and if I could inspect the condition of the complete 70s sets and the 82TT sets, I might offer more

$3000 would give you quite a bit of room to make money if the above looks good.

1983 VENDING BOXES 25 (FULL CASE AND 1 BOX EXTRA ) = Vending Case $700

How much you you discount the value of the cases being opened, particularly the 1980 having been handled?

I'm thinking opened and sorted cases should run about 60-70% of the price of a guaranteed unopened case. That also assumes key cards have not been removed and condition hasn't suffered during sorting.
If you broke the vends down into sets, the 1980, 1982, and 1983 sets only sell for around $30 on eBay, and even if you got 15 sets out of each vend case you would only get $450 out of each case.
If you went to resell the vend boxes, you wouldn't get as much as BBCE because people would be concerned that you searched them. There were no 1980 vends on eBay, but an 1982 vend sells for $40-$50, so using the low end, you'd get $960 out of that case on the low end, and a 1983 vend sells for $30-$40, so you'd get $720 out of that case on the low end.
If you went the grading route (which I'm not all that partial to because of the unknowns), you would need to factor in the risk of PSA slamming you.
