This is a new location for the show but with easy access. It's been a very active show over the past 3 years I have set up at it. The organizers put a lot of work into it and it is well attended.

Table 18, hope to see you there.

WTCG your disagreement with this show's organizers goes back about 5 years ago and you've stated it many times. No need to rehash it again unless you choose too. I can understand your feelings, those of the organizers and can understand both viewpoints.

All I can say is it is well attended and probably the most active bay area show of it's size (25-50 tables) so the Club is doing a lot of things right. I've experienced an excellent show over the past 3 years I have set up and the organizers have been very helpful in my experience. I'll be there both days.

I hope you enjoy fleet week.

My own opinions of the promoters aside, I know from numerous firsthand sources who have complained about the decline in business over the years at this show. They have complained about the decline in business volume and about the decline in attendance. The move to a new venue will not help. Some dealers who still attend are getting fed up and are having second thoughts about continuing to patronize this show. More power to you if you feel this is one of your best shows but understand that your sentiments are not universal.

I will not attempt to impede anybody or criticize anybody who wants to attend this show but they should be familiar with other options for the weekend around the Bay Area.

As a budding YN that annual show was the thing I saved up all year for. I would literally spend hours there, usually having been by each table at least twice. I still have lots of the stuff I bought at those shows, and well quite a bit of it has appreciated exponentially in value.

Wei this isn't personal between us. But your first post seems to be exactly what you deny doing in your second one.

    First post:

    Second post:

For clarification and accuracy the venue change was caused by the closure of the previous hotel site. The Crowne Plaza is very nearby and easy to get to. The local club has done a good job in my opinion of locating a comparable nearby alternate location after being blindsided by the previous venue's closure a few months ago.

I speak with the vast majority of dealers that attend and set up at this show. The majority have favorable opinions and results at this show and my results and numbers confirm this. Attendance has also been very good every year i have been involved. I've observed it and confirmed it first hand.

You didn't have to make negative posts, and as a fellow dealer I'm disappointed you chose to do so.

My intention of putting up this thread was information and to let potential attendees know i am going to be there. Your's seems to be to hurt my business. Very sad indeed.

Glenn, I'm disappointed you're drinking the Kool-Aid squirted in your direction. Blind loyalty can have disastrous results.

I am certain we talk to the same dealers. I know I have talked to most of the dealers who set up and some of the ones who used to set up. What I've heard from them is largely negative and many are expressing reservations about continuing to participate. They have complained about declining attendance. Of course you disagree. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Perhaps your experiences are the exception but to promote something to a level that it is clearly not is unfair to those planning to attend.

Anyways we'll never see eye to eye on this matter. Best of luck to you at the show this weekend.

So, people shouldn't attend the show because attendance is declining.

When I used to live in the Bay Area, I would never miss this show. Good dealers and very collector oriented.

    Huh?

Exactly what does "Blind loyalty can have disastrous results." have to do with announcing an annual coin show?

For a show that may have declining atendance, would you perhaps prefer that folks NOT be told about it?

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

  • Being from the bay area, go for concord, its a great show, Ive picked up lots of nice pieces, the dealers there are very personal and friendly, in addition to that I get good selling prices there, depending on the piece but greysheet bid is norm, no low ballers etc.
This will be my 3rd year going, and I prefer this show over the SF mint show.
Great show I recomend that you drop in even for a little bit if your in the area.
  • Went to the Concord Coin Show today for a couple hours. Glad that PonyExpress put up this reminder message (I would have forgot), so I bought some nice barber coinage from his juicy stock. The organizers do a good job at this show IMO. There were plenty of signs on the local roads and nearby hotels; they also utilize their coin club membership to get the word out (much better than the club in my town!). Decent crowd, not sure the sales were all that strong, but maybe not a huge surprise given the coin show reports nationally over the last few months. Personally, that room is way too small for my tastes, but there was quite a lot of coins packed in there and all the dealers were very friendly that I talked with today. Nice and convenient venue and location make up for the small/crowded room. Spent the rest of the day enjoying some truly impressive weather!

p.s Blue Angels are definitely worth seeing if you ever have the chance...

  • I was at the show for a few hours yesterday, and I had a good time. I've had pleasant experiences
at this show in the past few years.

I enjoyed talking to Glenn and Dennis. Bought an 1859 Indian from Alistair, and he gave
credit for my trade. Bought a 1914 Buffalo from Alan Kruezer. Bought a Netherlands 1c in
my grandmother's birth year from Fragner. Bought a couple other Netherlands coins from
Bruce Berman. Overall a very good day.
