I can now understand how B+Ms have a bad rep

I was extremely bored yesterday evening and rather than pretending to watch Glee with my wife I was trolling a social media site which had discussions about coins. One of the people who is a B+M dealer mentioned he had a website with his current buys and sells. All I can say is wow. 10% under spot on KRs, 40% of melt on scrap, 50% of melt on US 90%. The sells were just as incredible. I am glad I can help fight those perceptions

So we should judge all B&M shops on the basis of one gonif you happened to run across online?

I work at a B+M and I am constantly defending dealers because we provide a great service. I just hadn't seen anything so ridiculous advertised outside of hotel room guys. I was just posting my observation that I can now understand some people's perception
It's a reflection on yourself !
At least the shop owner publicly posted his buy prices. Most shops don't have a standard buy price for metals but rather make one up on the fly after visually sizing up whomever walks into the shop wanting to sell.

<< <i>I thought last night's Glee episode was actually pretty good. It was either that or watching the Yankees win big, which would've made feel sick.

What would have happened if you got a B on your report card Wei if an A- is an F

Hey, you should actually watch it, it's a pretty good program.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!

Last night Mike Chang got lucky when he discovered his mother actually has a heart and she admitted she's always loved dancing. That never happens in a real Asian household. For one, most Asians over 30 can't dance.
Here's the grading scale in *most* Asian American households...
A-: Disappointment and rehabilitation (i.e. no video games, must be home and studying no later than 20 mins after school gets out, no Facebook, etc.)
B: Beating
C+: A three hour rant about how you're dishonoring your ancestors followed by possible disownment
C: Parents attempt to trade you the same way sports teams trade players. You don't have a no-trade clause but a lot of Asian kids would happily take that trade.
Honor killing
F: Honor killing plus mutilation
Okay that was tongue 'n cheek and luckily my parents were never really that way but the vast majority of Asian American familes I personally know (including some uncles and cousins) aren't far off. I can go on forever about this topic but that would be OT for this forum.

Posted inline prices need to be updated as well or a dealer could get stuck.
On Monday 9/19, Silver was at $39.75. The following Firday it was $31.03. Thats a hefty dip that an online dealer who had not updated his online buy price would have to explain to a potential seller.
Having a store front is a little different than an online presence in that phone calls can be made and current prices can be quoted.

Prices were quoted in relation to spot not set numbers. So when I say 10% under spot it said .90 multiplied by spot not a specific number so your comment in this regard fails.

That was very funny, Wei. They should incorporate it into the next episode of Glee. I watched it with my daughter and would give the episiode a "B". I was not really into the song choices last night. Mike Chang is only of my favorite characters and one of the few that is relatively unflawed (with the exception of the A- in chemistry ).
Greenie, I am surprised that this is a new revelation for you. Unfortunately, the bad apples spoil the lot, like in any other field.

I believe it's a yiddish word.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value---zero."----Voltaire
"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
Good, now I can legitimately say I learned something on the coin forum today.
Here's the official definition from urbandictionary.com :
1. gonif 36 up, 3 down
A thief, a crook. An untrustworthy person, particularly one who steals outright or over-charges for merchandise.
(Hebrew & Yiddish: ganev, meaning thief)
Did you see what those gonifs at the new store are charging for t-shirts?

<< <i>I would say 95% of the coin shops and dealers are a bunch of rip offs in my books >>
This conclusion was no doubt arrived at after exhaustive research.
