Woody Planchet Lincoln's from the Graders / Results Posted!

I had a couple of coins I wanted to see if they would grade with
the Best. Cool looking coins but just wasn't sure if they would
grade or not. I'm wandering if the planchets when they were
minted were originally off color or full red gems and then turned
over the years because of the copper composition? Anyone
on the boards have any idea as to what or why they turned
colors like these. Thanks for any replies. I'll post the grades
later. Your guesses appreciated as well.

those are super nice, especially the 1919
not sure how the graders see these but
they look high-grade to begin with.
64 on both atleast is my gtg answer

It's hard to find wood grained coins graded above 64RB

Looks like balsa wood sculpture.

64 on the '39 and the '19 I just don't know. Could it be 97-ED becasue of the spot under Abe's ear?

Is the 1919 a Philly or San Fran delivery

It's hard to make out if there's a mint mark or not and I've never seen a 19-P woody before.

the 1919 is a stunner woodgrain toner cent but the
1939 is nearly as cool. too bad it didnt get a grade..this time.

Well I like them but I like the woodgrain look; and its unusual to see woodgrain on cents after the mid 20's. Not too surprised at the grades as before I saw your posted grades I was thining 63ish for both; very cool looking cents to my eye.

Mike, that 39 has a weak obv and Rev strike, so getting a 63 grade would have been right, getting a Questionable color out of WOOD GRAIN, priceless!!! I would tell PCGS they are WRONG.
