Relative died, coin sale advice requested.

One of my oldest friends has had a relative die and the family wants the cash for the coins. There are 150 silver dollars, A complete Franklin set in DANSCO, and a few hundred Littleton Coin celo packs with various coins in them. There's no money in this for me, i'm just helping them move it. I'm sure the Littleton packs contain nothing rare and no one knows nor cares what he paid for them (i'm sure it was a lot). I listed the tokens in the BST forum for "best offer".

Would you list the silver in BST? go Ebay? Melt them? I'm not going to buy them so there's no possible thought that I scammed them (you never know what some relatives will think) but with the silver prices so high i'm thinking MELT would be quick and easy.

Opinions?

I would BST the silver. After eBay/PayPal fees I feel you'll get more on the BST. Since it's free, nothing to lose.

If you do go melt you might want to wait awhile til silver reaches the 40's again.

They could also consider cosigning the whole lot to Jeremy (airplanenut) where he could piece it out on Ebay. It maybe easier this way. Just a thought. MJ

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Someone on Linked In believes it is a good idea to list them on Craigslist and meet someone in a Walmart parking lot.

    The question was:

"Where is a good place to check the value of coins. I have bunch of old silver dollars, Kennedy etc. Have no idea if they are worth anything."

    One response was:

"You can easily sell them on craigs list. Dont sell from your house. If you ever sell items like this bring a friend or 2 to wait in the car in a parking lot with video cameras such as walmart..etc."

I almost had a heart attack when I read that.

Just my 2 cents...but if the death just took place...they might want to wait a bit.

Not good to make financial decisions with fresh grief issues...unless they REALLY need money right now.
