Monday update: we have room for a bunch more, let's get some more folks to come out for a great time!
Back in 2004 we had a wonderful group dinner last time the ANA was in Pittsburgh with about 25-30 members attending. It was where Coppercoins looked at a Lincoln struck through a die cap that obliterated the obverse, then wowed the crowd declaring it was a 1973 from looking at the (normal) reverse. It was where FC57coins humped my leg. (Miss you, Frank) It was where MadMarty... well, maybe we'll not mention that. Let's do it again! 7 PM on Friday Oct. 14.
The Church Brew Works is an easy couple of miles and less than 10 minutes from the Convention Center, they have great microbrews and eats, located in an beautiful old church. Talked to their event coordinator today, they'll accommodate us at a large table like last time. You can check the link for the menu and beer options as well as directions. But even if you don't want any beer, come out for a great evening with fellow Forum members. I need to give them a heads-up on the number attending so please indicate in this thread if you plan to be there. You should try to make it, we had a blast last time.
Any questions, let me know.
Will bump this occasionally to keep it visible.
As of Monday:
OK, here's who we are expecting:
myself
Tootawl
golddustin
Mar327

blu62vette

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

In those 3 days I learned an awful lot just from interacting with folks I knew that I could trust from a few hours spent together Friday night. I would recommend it to anybody that can find the time.
every treasure on Earth
to be young at heart?
And as rich as you are,
it's much better by far,
to be young at heart!
I was there in 2004, had a great time. Not sure if I can make it this time but will try.

<< <i>You, Mar327, golddustin, perhaps PTVETTer, Strat. We need to get a couple dozen like we had last time. That was epic. >>
Damn straight that it was epic!!!

I guess I have to comb what is left of my hair.
Hope there won't be a turf war!

<< <i>Would I as an "evil" ANA governor still be invited? Or would beer glasses be thrown at my head?
Greg >>
Pick up the check and you will be wildly popular. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Maybe you could just get away with the beer tab! You're a member here, you're welcome there. Sounds like a calm crowd... haha!

<< <i>Any other girls going?? >>
Coin show dinners with any women are exceptionally rare. You have a better chance of spotting a unicorn in downtown Pittsburgh than a group of coin collectors in the company of women not forced to tag along or accepting monetary compensation for their presence.

I can fix that! How about a food fight! Coin people vs currency people!
Since I collect both, I'll be chuckin' food at anything that moves!

Ummm, Kranky - better remove my name. I'm going unicorn hunting. Are the Furries in town this weekend???
I'd also like to thank the remaining participants for not tarring and feathering the ANA Governor
It was great to meet everyone and hope to have other opportunities at other conventions.
