New Forum Thread - Eye Appealing Medals !

So given the relative lull in activity on the Taler front, I have decided to venture into a new, budget sensitive, theme to satisfy the itch. I actually defined it as Eye Appealing Medals - no focus on history, era, or artist - simply, eye appeal - If my wife can look at the medal and agree it is appealing, it will be posted. I hope others can post along and keep this as a living thread.
So here is my first (seller's photo edited as I dont have it in hand yet).
Medal from Royal Swedish Life Guards, 1926.
Bronze, 81 grams, 55 mm diameter.
Desiged by Ivar Johnsson
Marked on the edge C. O. SPORRONG & CO. Very good condition.
Front side of the medal: Three armed soldiers marching.
Text on front side listing Swedish battles: 1521 GUSTAF VASAS LIFAKTARE KUNGL. SVEA LIFGARDE 1926 * POSSVNT NEC POSSE VIDENTVR
Back side a laurel wreath with text: 1521 Befrielsekriget (War of liberation), Rhen 1631, Lützen 1632, Warschau 1656, Tåget öfver Bält 1658, Lund 1676, Landskrona 1677, Narva 1700, Düna 1701, Kliszow 1702, Holov Czyn 1708, Svensksund 1790.

Yep. Bare-breasted ladies on medals are always eye appealing.

I'll dig around photobucket and my hard drive and see what else I can find. Some of my pictures are pretty craptastic but with almost everything in storage it's all I've got!

This is one of my favorites.

Thanks for sharing these.
I've got everything I need - almost.
Britannia, Maple, Osterreich, Eagle, Fantasy coins and whatever else gets in my way.
Being born and raised there, these medals hold a special significance to me and my parents.
They moved there before statehood and I'm proud to be a home grown haole boy.
Edit to fix my typo. Thanks 7Jaguars.

I filled up 2 of these before moving in 2009. My buying has been curtailed, but not non-existant... sigh.
Started with a medal that was being ridiculed on the forum, but I liked it and bought it and found out it was pretty cool. I eventually expanded to various random items and I finally settled on a mommy-baby/art deco/horse/greyhound -ish theme with a few side tracks on the way.

2K...it's only money . (I have 2 of those cases my 'stepdad' made--I always feel funny calling him that. I was 27 or so when he and my mom got married).

<< <i>This was the last I purchased, at auction earlier this year - to go along with my collection of 10 Gulden from 1897 - this is a very large 60+mm medal in bronze that must have been made as an award medal. >>
Whoa! That is beautiful!

What's the story with the silver De Witt brothers' medal? Does it commemorate their deaths in 1672 or ? The edge treatment is amazing in any case.
A few scans with different lighting:

Here is another one, a random buy from my "aren't gryphon's cool" phase. The picture sucks..it was taken a long time ago on a bad camera, I was just trying to get some quick pix. They are nice to have in case something happens to all my stuff in storage, but once I have everything back and some time I want to re-image everything properly. Or, if it's not worth a nice picture, then it's time to sell .

Thats correct, STLNATS. Johan (prime minister) and his brother Cornelis ( secretary of the Navy) were accused of the problems in the Netherlands in 1672
the country was attacked by England, France & Germany . The Prince of Orange (the later King William III of Great Britain) played a dubious role in the accusations, both brothers were
dragged out of the prison in The Hague and shot by the burgerwacht (civil police)
the dutch civilians partly dismembered the corpses and ate the internal bodyparts.
5 different type of silver medals were struck in 1672 to honour both brothers :
Wimmen in camo and body armor are a real turn on

last time I visited de gevangenpoort (prison), some bodyparts (toes/fingers) of the brothers were on display.

This is more my speed--it's still on the religion theme being St. George, but I do tend more towards the Art Deco (again please forgive the horrible pictures--I was taking some fast shots before packing things up).
Blin:
BHM 344 from 1790. Pitt Clubs and other societies often produced medals for their members. This one is encased within a silver ring and glass lunettes. It was intended to be hung and worn with a ribbon.
