White Plains was a major disappointment

I only live 6-7 miles away, and usually pop in ever show.

This one was the pits.

Empty tables.
No PSA.
Not even a Probstein sighting!

  • yah, we sat this one out...I could have gone today, but my staff came in today and we worked instead...
shipped 250 items and posted 500 more auctions for 2nite...
i recall back in the gloria rothstein days they used to do heavy PR and bring in new blood - constantly...
the surrounding areas have wealth, but no new money is coming into the shows...
    its becoming an autograph show...

I agree. I worked at our offices in Harrison. I bought some cards in the back from a guy named Steve. Spent probably an hour with him. Didn't see very many tables. I think it is the economy and the card biz in general. I also was glad i did not make a special trip up on Saturday. Anybody have any luck at White Plains.

I only go when PSA is there and drop cards off. I never really find any deals there. Hopefully next time will be better!

I would love for that show to be here in Tampa. I've seen some great steals by members on other forums of their bargain bin finds.

The dealer turnout was unquestionably poor, but I still managed to come away with NM/M commons. 2 '71s, 17 1973's, 12 '72's, and 20 '74's. Larry the Rangers guy has a decent stock which turns over pretty frequently, so I spent a few hours poring through it for the first time in a couple of years. As with several of the dealers there, there are nice cards to be had if you can put in the time sifting through lesser cards.
