What is going with this Lincoln? Any ideas

Hello everyone

Just wondering what might have caused this. It does not appear to be PMD

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

The doubling on the letters is Machine Damage Doubling (MDD). The bump on the left 9 looks like a die chip but I think it might also have been hit at one point since it looks sort of crushed. I can't tell what is going on with the right 9, maybe another die chip?

    Totally agree
  • from the pics i have to agree, die gouge/chip.

  • I agree that we're seeing die gouges or chips coupled by possible die deterioration doubling. It coud be machine doubling but the die gounges hint at an over-used die.
