Book Value and other irritations

I can't stand it when the "book value" is in the description of any card I'm looking to purchase. This is an instant turn off for me. Usually the book value stated is for a card several grades higher. Why do people do this? I just move on. A close second would be some sappy sentimental story which I really couldn't care less about. Just curious, what words or descriptions on ebay listings make your blood boil?

Too small for me to sweat someone trying to hype up their sale. They can hype it all they want, I dont care. I look at the card, I look at the feedback, I make my bid. That's it. The only irritation is keyword spamming cuz I hate a bunch of garbage on my searches.
  • It doesn't bother me when someone states the 'book value' of the card. I don't pay any attention to it, and it doesn't make the slightest impact on what I will bid- but it doesn't bother me.

Keyword spamming is irritating, and conveniently forgetting to mention in the title that the PSA graded card you are selling has a qualifier is also irritating.

The 'sappy, sentimental story' is a huge red flag to me. The more you tell me about how you came into possession of the card/cards, the less likely it is that you're ever going to see any of my money.

I hate it when I am looking for a scarce Cardinals item for my team sets and someone has the card and has a buy it now priced way higher than it should be. I know, if it's rare, they should be able to price it how they want to. It's just irritating that cards like that sit there and sit there for months on end and I know I need it, yet I'm not going to fork out 5 times what the card is worth.

Agreed. I see that alot with the 1933 Sport Kings cards I am trying to collect. The BIN prices are, for the most part, obscene. They just sit, and sit........and sit.........I guess they are hoping for the one time whale to come along and pay their bloated prices (The whale came along right before the National - maybe he had a buyer already lined up?)
